celestial pole (Geography Dictionary)

celestial pole : Either of the two imaginary points in the sky at which an indefinitely extended projection of the Earth’s axis of rotation intersects the celestial sphere. As the Earth rotates upon its axis, the north and south celestial poles remain permanently fixed in the sky (directly overhead to observers at the North Pole and South Pole, respectively), and all other points appear to rotate around them.
